Tres Masque

The 'Masque' is a term used to describe a form of courtly entertainment popular in the 16th and 17th Century's. Masked players would unexpectedly call on nobility in their hall, dancing and presenting gifts to celebrate auspicious occasions. Traditionally, at the completion of their performance, the actors, musicians and dancers would remove their masks to reveal their identities.

In keeping with Venetian traditions, the musicians from Tres Classique gave a masked performance, with pageantry, aristocratic panache and classical style, creating just the right Carnival atmosphere. Who are our players pictured above? Who is the Angel of Music?
